![]() August 14, 2012 - 8:19am | I'm getting ready to run the Beyond the Frontier series with my kids. (Except Mutiny - too slow for them). I had their characters join up with the Clarion Royal Marines, and plan on having them play out the last two parts of the series as crew members of the Osprey attatched to the Frontier Expiditionary Force. Problem is, the maps of the Eleanor Moraes are broken up on the back cover of the pdf. Does anyone have complete maps? I have been looking to no avail since yesterday. Also, any pics of what the hull frame looks like would be extremely helpful. Thanks everyone... |
![]() August 14, 2012 - 10:06am | To your first question I'll have to look for my copy of the module (its somewhere) and see about a scan and stitch but hopefully someone else has what you need. IIRC the crew of the Moraes had to call for help which came from Clarion so why not rewrite the module such that you'r kids get to come to the rescue. Dennis Maggard's Cthulhu Hymnal- lymerick "Necronomicon" The Necronomicon? You can't be shown one! While the libraries will never loan one! But if its so rare And guarded with care Why does every nut case seem to own one? |
![]() August 14, 2012 - 12:02pm | ^ Exactly. The mutiny module will be too lame for them. The Face of the Enemy is where the action starts and they give suggestions on how to play the module without having played Mutiny. I planned on including this adventure series to finish out their year long enlistment in the CRM. They finished the KH0 module, and last session, I had them run some of the scenarios from White Light II to keep them busy while I dropped some clues: 1. I had Strike Force Nova come for a visit in the aftermath of the Sathar attack on White Light. 2. I had newly promoted Lt. Klast tell the PCs about the Frontier Expeditionary Force (FEF) and the Osprey's assignment to it. After a couple of seesions of running ship checks and typing up a few personal plot loose ends, they'll get orders to go assist the Moraes. Then after all that, they get returned to White Light on the Osprey and meet Garlus Tylapper... On that tangent, I decided to not allow the kids to keep the Star Devil's corvette. But I approached it by having their favorite NPC (who stayed on Volturnus to find his brother) ask them to give up their claim in the ship and donate it to the Eorna as a Militia ship. On the map issue - I can splice the pics myself, I was just wondering if anyone had done it... Thanks- |
![]() August 14, 2012 - 12:05pm | I can attempt to re-scan and upload to the Port Loren Public Library this week. Here's some images I started uploading in the past. Refer to: Mutiny on the Eleanor Moraes (a document page from the Original SF Art project). GJD crafted this Moraes-like image that you could use. ![]() |

![]() August 14, 2012 - 4:24pm | I'm curious as to why you think this module is too slow or lame for you kids? I think picking up the campaign in module 2 makes sense with the set up you have with your kids already being royal marines, I'm just curious about the reasons you panned the module. ![]() August 14, 2012 - 5:14pm | Like a lot of ships in SF, I'm quite impressed with all the wasted space found in the ship. My general vision of spaceships is as cramped as a submarine, but you can cram a lot of people in those quarters. But what I find even more impressive, are the semi-co-ed shower room. I would assume the shower rooms - like the head on the other side of the deck - are divided by gender, but the locker room is shared by both. Personally, I would remove the empty gap between shower rooms, or use it as storage space for soap, towels, and such. |
![]() August 14, 2012 - 8:54pm | @ Malcadon - if my kids ever want to join the UPF Survey team, I'll probably rework the map in maptool. It's hard to go back to the scanned in floor plans!!! @Jedion - My 9yo is really hyperactive. It's a struggle to get him to sit still sometimes to play. I discovered that during the AD0 module, right after they crashed on Volturnus, that the scarce supply/survival part of the module was a struggle for him to sit through. My 13yo does better - he grasps the more advanced game concepts and seems to follow subplots pretty well. He would probably do okay with it, but I'm trying to find the least common denominator. They both really perk up when it's time to fight Sathar... I think I'm going to save that module for the future. With a little re-write - there could be another mishap, and a different antagonist. I still have hopes that some day they may be able to enjoy doing survey missions. I plan long term to have the campaign stretch out to the 'south' of the frontier and possibly introduce new factions and perhaps a Gamma World type of planet that was nuked by the Sathar hundreds of years past. But I can always find some way to get them there... |
