The Star Frontiers VirtualCon is rapidly approaching.  It's time to sign up and get registered.  The Con website is http://starfrontiers.info/VirtualCon.

We currently have 8 people signed up but no one has registered to play a game.  There is no registration fee since we've not been able to do the patch as we desired so there is no excuse not to participate.  Someone blogged about it a few weeks ago but pointed out that there (at the time) were only two people registered and so he expressed concern that it wouldn't happen.  A lot of people read the blog but not many came over to the site.  Let's get everyone signed up and get the word out.

Currently there are two games scheduled, one by jedion357 on Friday night (March 9) and one by me on Saturday (afternoon/evening depending on where you are).  If you want to run a game, just sign up and create a game session.  If you're already registered and want to join a game, you can now register to play the games.

I've also created a section on the Star Frontiers Network Wiki for VirtualCon game information if referees want to put stuff up online in advance of the game.  The wiki site for the Con is the Game Material section and is called Star Frontiers VirtualCon 2012. I'm in the processing of putting up the information about the ship my game is centered around right now.

So everyone go sign up and let's play some Star Frontiers!

Its early morning and I'm still hunting up coffee but I just realized I have a scheduling conflict on Friday night. I'll see what I can do to resolve it but my game may need to move to another time slot.
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

Let me know when you want to move it to and I'll switch it.  And it's better to do it soon before people start signing up for it at the current time.

with only two games so far I dont want to compete with the other game on Sat. at 6pm so I'll take a morning session or after lunch session (just having trouble getting into the site to figure things and must run to work right now).

I was going to say that I was going to be in chat on friday night but it appears my smart phone dont do the chat room this site.

Alright my game is moved to 1pm eastern on Saturday and I'll likely be on chat about 9pm Friday if anyone wants to chat about SF or what ever. I just purchased new headphones and boom mic so skype is also possible. Dunno if skype is possible through a smart phone app but if so I could be around earlier.

It is if you have an Android based phone.  I have a skype mobile app on my DroidX.  Don't know about iPhones or Windows phones.

And Larry, if you can't play in Jedi's game at the new time let me know and I'll remove you from the list of players.

Might be OK. I tend to work on Saturdays so usually only available at nights on Weekends. Will still try and make what I can.
Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go?

I noticed that we only have twelve total player spots between the two games, but we have 17 people registered. I know it is always hard to find a game and somebody to run it. I myself am not familiar with it enough to run one. But would anybody be able to run one or two of the published mods? I know that I haven't played them all and I am sure that some others wouldn't mind replaying one (if they could be gracious enough to forget what they already know about the mod). It could be listed as Mystery Mod and not announced which mod it is until game time. If it is still too undesirable, perhaps it can be twisted and tweaked enough to keep experienced players on their toes? Just a thought. I feel badly about hogging two game slots, but not badly enough to give one up. This suggestion is just to assuage my guilty conscience.

I'll drop out if there is too many players and of course if Tom wishes I can run an ad-hoc game if needed (I'm going to prep one just in case). I've ran up to 5 ppl on G+, that's about all I would do so everyone gets a chance.

As for the modules, I can run those anytime. If you have at least two more players or we get two from this site or my peeps on G+ it would be great to post a schedule online and commit to at least 4-6 sessions lasting 2-3 hours long. You all might recall last year jedion (Tom V.) and I met for a few weeks online due to interest of others wanting to play. We were the only ones that showed up. :-p So I would ask that you confirm schedules before commiting to play.

I could probably run another game, definitely one of the modules if that is desired.  I think that there is at least one other game coming as I was e-mailed the other day by someone who couldn't find their registrant id and was trying to set up a game.

@w00t:  If you want to run a game, just register the time and people will show up.  Just pick a time you can do it.  If no one does sign up, then you're off the hook.

iggy told me that his kids want to play too so there are more players coming as well.  We could probably fill up two more games and they can be at the same time.  I'm signed up for Jedi's game but will probably remove myself so that 1) others can play and 2) I can run a game at the same time if necessary.

I've never played in an on-line game.  I always play around the table.  I need to play in one first so that I know how to manage the technical side of things.

I have a slot in both games.  I will give one of my kids first dibs on which one they want.  But there are two others who want to play.  If needed I'll give up the other spot as well.  I was expecting that we would share our spots with each playing half a session, turning the character control over to each other.

Ok, I signed up for the con.  I really doubt I can actually make it to play anything on such short notice (for me), but I will at least register.  besides, I really like the badge.  ;)

Too bad I don't have my module for Origins done or I could test run that.

Thanks,
Duncan

Had a Pow-Wow with my tribe and agreed that we will share characters in the two games I am registered in.  That will keep slots open for other players.

Tom and Tom, this may cause my characters to seem a bit unstable as I will let my kids role play and not micro manage their choices.  So our characters will have the mind of a guy >40, a girl age 16, a guy age 14, and a guy age 11.  We'll speak up when we trade off.  If one of the characters runs head long into a hail of bullets and dies it's likely due to a guy age 14 and not me.Smile

I'm looking at running a second game.  What time slot would people like to see another session in?  I'm tempted to run it parallel with Jedi's game (A Dangerous Delve) but am open to suggestions of when people would like to see it.  This one will be a fairly low level game (i.e. PC's with about 60xp of experience), probably set on Volturnus.

I'm going to be open all weekend, would like to try to maintain the Chat here and SFman.com, so anytime. I wouldn't suggest parallel, gives more options to folks who just drop in.

In fact, how are you handling ppl that drop in the day of?

Unless there are slots open, all they can really do is lurk unless someone wants to run a game at the drop of a hat.

On Wednesday (Mar 7) before the Con, I'll send all the GM's an e-mail with the e-mail addresses of their players so that they can contact them with any pre-game information if they need to and arrange whatever technology they want to use.

Otherwise, I'll be in the chat room most of the day as well.  My only conflict is that I have to take my 12 year old twins to and from their school in the evening on the 9th (Friday) since they are in the school's play that night and my wife will be running the planetarium at the university.  Unfortunately that overlaps both of the evening sessions on Friday or I'd do a game then.

Ok so I see the con is a bit low on Referees more than players.  I have just a germ of an idea that I am fleshing out for Origins 2012.  I MIGHT be willing to try and run it at the Con with the understanding that this is a work in early progress.

Basic Plot:
A PGC exploration team has disappeared in the Garaz system.  You are a member of a search and rescue team that is sent to find them.

The PCs are realitily high level (about 60-70 experience points worth.)  Your mission is find the missing ship, find and rescue survivors, determine what happened, and explore the planet as best you can.

Would there be any interest?  It would have to be after about 9:00 EST on Friday or Saturday night.

Thanks,
Duncan

I just realized the Virtual Con *didn't* happen last weekend.  I was so busy recently I thought it was happening right after the big red announcement on this site's homepage disappeared.

Yay, I believe I actually have FREE TIME this coming weekend!!!  :)
