Omicron Rising

Omicron Rising is an adventure I started but abondoned awhile back since I was unhappy with the ending or rather how the ending was developing

its set in Truanes Star and since its puts the PCs in the position of being chosen for an important mission (not too important) I felt that it would make a good sequel for the Bounty on Death, since if the PCs succeed they will gain some notoriety and it might be plausible for them to be recruited for this little job.

Its inspired in part by material from the Dragon Article "Volturnus Connection" Also the name is a nod to the phrase in SF-0 "a police action on Cygnus Omicron IX" and my little idea that Cygnus Omicron IX is a moon of a gas giant in the Truane's Star system. Back drop being food riots on Pale as the reconstruction of Pale from the 1st Sathar War winds down and the bread lines are filled with veterans and construction workers.

Farmers on CO9 are pissed over Streel horning in on them and the government of Pale is thinking to just assert its control of CO9 (its been renamed New Pale after Pale took control)

Streel is interfering with the electoral process on New Pale as there is the Grange party that is vehemtly opposed to Streel or Pale interfering with their planet and advocate separation.

Streel wants a certain person picked up on a habeus corpus warrent for a murder back on Pale. this is were the PCs come in.

Alpha Section involved the PCs accompanying a company man as he obtained the warrent at court but didn't want them close to him and he told them to wait in the hallway. They have an opportunity to discover some clues if they're currious. there is a number of clues to suggest that the murder charge on Pale against someone on New Pale is a little henky but they're still getting paid to find this guy.

the terrorist group Sons of Cygnus Omicron is planning to stage a prisoner break when the prisoners that are scheduled to be returned to Pale are brought to the shuttle the PCs will be debarking. the PCs will be caught right in the middle of a cross fire and can decide to intervene. their contact from streel is running his own game in the middle of this crossfire. if the PCs intervene on the correct side they will garner some help from the local law enforcement.

There is some running around and clues to be learned once on New Pale once they are free of the sherrif's questioning.

the pursuit of the warrent will lead to the Sons of Cygnus Omicron and their plan to bomb government buildings to provoke the sending of Peace Keeper battalions.

I think, unless each political entity is defined, you'll need to have a background in the SF setting to understand this adventure. Maybe something more generic can be done?

Might be I'm just tired... but wanted to comment.

I think a referee brief and a player brief totalling about 1.5 pages should do the trick. Plus if peeps have played the Bounty on Death module then they will have some feel for the political and social feel of the situation in Truane's Star.

I think that food riots and a police action on CO9 would represent significant events in the history of this system so using these as a backdrop for an adventure will make the average player more aware of what really qualifies as obscure history in this setting.
