    SPAM-proof the Guestbook

    Issue Number:
    219
    Severity:
    Major
    Description:
My guestbook again has spam in it. As much as I like getting guestbook entries, i hate spam and any company and its hirelings that resorts to it. there's got to be a way to stop the spam.

    But if its so rare

I thought everyone had control over their Guestbook?
I bet there are more infected users, we just check our GB....

I can delete posts. I just don't want them to begin with. SPAM is advertisement. And when I've been off the site for a while and come back to find SPAM, that means I've been spamming everyone who has wandered into my guestbook for that period of time.

I don't think that guest books get all that much action; I just got my first entry. But you are right it s annoying. Wonder if its possible to block guest book entries that contain links?

The only guestbook entry I've ever gotten was by Larry.  Definitely spam Foot in mouth.  i.e. I've never had a problem.  I wonder what causes an account to be targeted.

Good point. For me, that's a total of 5 spams in my guestbook in the last six months.
