true but Forbidden Moon was a colaboration adventure that fell apart. I simply wrote some fiction to give it some flavor but the adventure went unwritten.

I'm considering resurrecting it after I finish the humma project and a fresh look at it will likely suggest new avenues.
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

Correction: You will considering resurrecting it for FS.

No it was a community collaboration from earlier this year is should be done in SF and for the zine.

I disagree, but its your project.
One of our goals when providing FS content is to back port to SF.

Most projects done for SF will be read but not played. :-P

That's big talk. Are you saying that everyone contributing to SFman and this site is going to be required to do so under the FrontierSpace banner instead of Star Frontiers?

Nope. I'm saying (again) one our goals (DwD Studios) when providing FS content is to back port to SF. We have already done several articles that have been ported to SF for the community, for your information.

Anyone can contribute as they see fit. This site is a Star Frontiers site, we have another site that is for FrontierSpace. No one has been forced to write for one game system in the history of SFMAN, it's business as usual when FS hits the shelves!

But when Frontierspace comes out we will be allowed to play in that sandbox too right? Will SFman have a separate section for Frontierspace, or will there be a whole new mag for Frontierspace?

Well.. a can of worms opens! lol.
Play in that sandbox? I don't understand the question. Undecided
  • There will not be a separate magazine, it will simply cover three games; Alpha Dawn/Knight Hawks, Zebulon's Guide and FrontierSpace.
  • Will the magazine be divided up into sections? I don't know at this time, currently it's not divided up; for those of us who know the Star Frontiers background we can clearly delineate between AD and Zeb's. The reader base at large can not and enjoy the magazine as-is.
  • Should you worry? Nope. Once FS is released and people are playing we can expect a larger reader base which translates into more submitters, more ideas, more artists, more interests, more goodness, more more more! New people will be introduced to Star Frontiers.
It's better for the community all around. There have been several DwD Studios announcements in the magazine that should help answer questions.

"Play in that Sandbox"

The sandbox refers to the rules set that has been lovingly called FrontiersSpace, and by playing in that sandbox I mean will we be allowed to add homebrewed additions to FrontierSpace in the magazine (when we have mastered the rules that is)?

(you know me, I love shiny new things that I can play with and add stuff to)

To really play in the FS sandbox you'd have to have the rules-
however both systems will be very close and easy to convert to each other so if an adventure is published in the zine for FS you'll be able to convert it to SF and play it with those rules.

I for one am exceedly glad that Larry and Bill have back ported a number of FS things to Sf in the zine as these things have been extremely popular (my favorite has been "A Skilled Frontier")

There is nothing wrong with Larry and Bill developing a game for profit that has the same feel as SF, its actually smart, as we cannot predict what the future holds concerning SF as it is still the IP of a corporation that is not to be trusted and has a history of mismanaging some of its products to the immense distress of the customer base. We could at any time get a cease and dessit order from WOTC lawyers and then what?
if the zine caters to multiple system we're good. we continue publishing it as business as usual with a nod and a wink that material being submitted is "FS" material and the corporation can go pound sand.

No one is requiring that anyone buy into the new game or play it. it going to be a Sci fi, d100 game with an old school feel-very compatible with SF. The core rules will only have humans in them (and be pretty much setting generic) and there will be a setting book developed (actually az gamers is working on his own setting book Dark Tempest which will be available along side the official setting book) eventually their will be a free PDF that is a dress up of the Sf setting (with an eye toward using it with the newer rules but equally usable with AD).

IIRC this thread started with my indignation over the mutilation of a peice of fiction I wrote. w00t was just wondering if I was going to write the Forbidden Moon as FS since he's aware of certain projects that I delayed submitting to the community in order to write them as FS modules. Personally I feel that since it was community based while FS was still being rewritten that Forbidden Moon should be AD rules.

Actually FrontierSpace is built on The d00 System(TM). :-)

Sandbox People are welcome and encouraged to tweak, house-rule and of course submit FS goodness to the Magazine! In fact we have several supplements in mind for FS, we just can't pack it all into the Core book. :-)

 http://d00system.com/

(From the Core book)

THE d00 SYSTEM
“d00 System” (pronounced dee hundred) is the name of the game engine used to power this product. This is the first game book using this game system, but may not be the last. The d00 system is named that because it is a set of rules based on percentiles whose dice are interpreted 00-99 instead of 01-100 as in most percentile systems. Future products built upon the well-tested framework of these rules will feature this same logo on their covers.

Not all components of the FrontierSpace game are part of the d00 system, but most are. The d00 system is a framework, not a fixed and exhaustive list of systems and subsystems. It is a blueprint for creating fun and exciting games. The ability score list, for instance, is part of the d00 system. Other games based on these rules will have the same ability score list. The concepts of fields of study, skills, and skill levels are all a part of the d00 system, though not the specific lists of skills and fields implemented in this product (those lists might differ in a game designed to simulate fantasy, for example). The idea of body points, damage resistance, damage absorption, and the basic rules governing combat, damage, and damage recovery are all parts of the d00 system and will find use in other products to come from DwD Studios.

Becoming familiar with the d00 system through use of this product will automatically generate familiarity with all other systems powered by the d00 System.
