Simplifying equipment tables

In an effort to keep things simple I figure that I'm going to put together a table which will allow players to cross reference the size of an item with a rank based on its durability to determine how many endurance points the item has rather then use up space to list an items hardness, and Endurance points. that way with one small table it can give Endurance points to a wide variety of objects from microchips to federanium boulders.

Also I think instead of listing clothing items, I'm going to have a small listing of wardrobes such as casual, high Fashion with a cost and leave it up to the player to determine what his character is dressed like. certain items will of course have entries (like spacer boots) because they are not just clothes, but are equipment.

I like this idea.

I've got the wardrobe section done, and fixed the protective wear section including neat little descriptions of each type of protective gear, plus notes about the types of damage that some suits protect against, and the modifiers to resistance rolls that wearing some suits grant the character.

For example suits like Skien/reflective bodysuits now grant a DR (defensive rating) of +2 and reduce damage from non energy weapons, and lasers by -1 point/die of damage and may reduce damage to 0 points/die.

I'm working on defensive screens next, and then I'll start tackling the weapons.

Okay, I had a bit of time today so I got to continue working on the equipment lists. I've reworked all the weapons, and elimiated several weapons, one which may be reintroduced in a later supplement. I rewrote some rules about mines and grenades (now most grenades have primary and secondary blast radius) missiles and vehicle weapons got tweaked and most of the equipment has been changed to the new format. I'm about 91 pages into the rewrite of the core rulebook (about 1/3 of the way) I'm trying to keep the book under 300 pages, but even if I cut corners on describing the equipment (there's about ten pages worth of equipment) I don't see the book coming in at less than 220 pages, and that's after removing all but the core 4 races, and the 3 Rim races).

I might get away with removing robots from the core book and putting them in the optional book , but the vehicle rules must stay in the core book. I'm trying to keep true to my original plan of having one core rulebook, an administrator's guide, an optional rulebook and Knighthawks as the core books with everything else building from there, but I don't want the main book to be over 250 pages. I guess I'll finish putting the book together and then worry about the page count.

Okay the Equipment lists are completely reworked. I removed the entertainment items and will put those in the optional rulebook. I'm going to finish rereading and tweaking the rest of the books and get them back to a playable state and then I'll go back and fill in the Equipment discriptions.

There is enough information in the equipment lists without the equipment descriptions, to use the equipment in game, so maybe by the spring I'll have enough of version 4.5 ready for a big reveal. There will be some significant changes though in the new books. I'm going to be rethinking something about Robots that has always bugged me, and the Zeb's guide to Frontier Animals will be revamped to include more data on the creatures than just stats.

Maybe when the new version is revealed here, if you guys think that it's advanced enough in its development that it can survive public scrutiny, we might be able to get some community input, and maybe more community involvement.
