I found this site awhile back, and forget about it. Its a Star Trek site with ships that are considered old by the time of the original series. Unlike typical ST ships, a number of these ships have a vertical deck layout, like what you would find in Knight Hawks games. I recommend using them in your games, as they are well-designed.

These would be from before the series Enterprise changed the background of some of the older ships I think. I also think that current Star Trek history has the Federation being founded much later that before  doesn't it?

I  have been using the SF Museum site for ship design reference material for a long time. Their non-cannon fan-stie has a much more balanced approach to both star trek technology and design. If you look at their star fighter design you will see some very interesting concepts. First Fighters are "big" carrying a crew of three to five to operate the systems. They have no glass canopies, are heavily armored, and are very functional. A Carrier hauls about eight fighters in a carosel type bay. The ships do have nacelles but they are closer to the hulls (not on huge stalk like pylons) reducing the target signatures and are better protected. They are all warp powered vessels but the designs seem a lot more reasonable. Most of these ships that would be of interest to SF players (Unless you are playing a star trek setting) would be the pre-daedalus ships from the earth/romulan war. Ships are armed with laser cannons, ship to ship or ship to surface missles, defensive missles (ICM's). An interesting design feature is a missle cannon - which I speculate is just an early design version of the ST missle/torpedo launch bay. The history is interesting filled with ship info, design specs, and even starship insignia patches/logos. While these designs could be converted to SF play they still don't fit the canon SFKH starship design and equipment specifications. I for one, after playing SFKH for over twenty years feel the SF technology needs an serious update or rewrite anyway. But the site is very cool and if you like classic trek, ST Enterprise, or related material you will find lots of goodies here.

There's an inherent beauty with non-jump capable fighters: remove the temptation of jumping out of harm's way and the pilot is now forced to fight!
I'm not overly fond of Zeb's Guide...nor do I have any qualms stating why. Tongue out

Oh those ships can still be used in a SF setting, just think about it a little. Who says you can't mount more than one engine on a pylon.

Personally, I like these ships over the ones from Enterprise. Hell, I would have had a real nerdgasm if they used a Daedalus class starship instead of that Akura-cless-clone (that, and miniskirts on the female crew). Enterprise was fail on so many levels! I really like their oversize laser turrets. As it is, SF warships don't mount a lot of weapons anyhow. They would make for good early warships designs or old warships that have been recommissioned for civilian use. That would explain why Knight Hawks warships (from the UFP Operations Manual) have better weapons then when you can find on a civilian model (from ship-design system in the Campaign Book). That is how I like to see it.
