Good job. I could tell that you wrote it all out in advance. That made it very easy to listen to.

I've listened to several podcasts from others and I seem to always end up making the following suggestions:
  1. Make sure that the episodes don't go past half an hour.
  2. Move the episodes along in a structured fashion. (A segment plan and written presentations are invaluable.)
  3. Don't let dead air happen when you are speaking with guests. (Prepared questions will help. No matter where the discussions lead, you will always be able to keep it moving in the right direction.)
  4. If you find the show dragging a little, inject some humor. (Usually done with corny skits. Even corny, they still work.)
I look forward to the future podcasts. Smile

Yep, that one was prescripted.  Future ones probably won't be nearly as much, although I am planning on a general plan as you suggest.  General topics to discuss, questions to ask, etc.  I agree on the length, I don't really want them going on that long either.

Dead air is not really a problem, the wonders of modern digitial editing can eliminate a lot of that.  The trick is to keep the transitions smooth.

I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Nicely done and thank you for the shout out and plug for my game. As side from the fact yours is the first podcast I've ever listened to, you are now my favorite Podcast host!Foot in mouth

I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

Tom, good job. +1
You're voice is smooth and swarmy.
Consider reading some of BOLD text from the modules:
1. The Into Story's (with a "beep" turn the page)
2. The "Read this to the Players" text - so I just hit play on my CD-player.
Wink

"Void Jump Complete" Foot in mouth

That was awesome! Can I get a .wav of that to put on my computer?
Lastly, consider a longer intro (music?).

I haven't had a chance really to look for a music intro.  I'm open to suggestions.

What do you want the .wav of?  The "void jump complete" part?  That shouldn't be a problem at all.

Oh ya!

Some say, "Engage!" (Star Trek)
Some say, "Oh ya? Watch this!", "Let me guess, no lightspeed?" (Star Wars)

We say "Void Speed!"...after days of sub-light acceleration.  Laughing

I like the void jump audio, but it needs to be much louder. It should probably be just a notch louder than your voice.

Though, you might add some kind of space opera music behind it or after it. Smile

"Void jump complete" would be great at the end of the episode.

Great job, especially flying solo for this one.  My only recommendation is that when you're pronouncing URLs out loud, you probably don't need to say "aitch tee tee pee colon double forward slash", since "http://" is generally assumed for all URLs.  Save yourself some time and awkwardness that way.  Other than that, I'm really looking forward to the next episode.  This will be the first podcast I follow regularly instead of grabbing just isolated episodes!

Wow great!

I would love to talk on the show with you about some campaigns and things...

You should probably have conversations with all of us, that way you have enough material for a year's worth of podcasts and you can broadcast regularly and establish a listener base.

Detailed review of the StarFrontiersman would be another option.  I actually DID issue #1 in recording, but I did not really like it...  To many "uhhhs"...

Pre-record is a good idea. You can cut-n-paste for the podcast, add new content or replay an oldie but goodie.

"Oldies but goodies" don't really work well on podcasts, since people already have access to the oldie.

I said this wrong. What I meant was, turn your voice up in the void jump audio to be a tad louder than your regular voice for the rest of the podcast. The ship is already loud enough. Your voice is just too soft for the engine noise.

First Podcast I ever listened to, all the way to the end. It held my interest all the way through.

Shorter is better than longer. After about 15 minutes I begin to twitch. After 30 minutes...forget it.

I look forward to listening again.

Best of Luck

I didn't think of trying that Foot in mouth.  I made it so guests could vote since I didn't want to limit people from voting who had never been to the site before, but maybe I should just allow registered voters.  We'll just see how it goes.
