Darrell C. L. Donald who made the Frontier Facelift map was working on a remake of the Serena Dawn map from Crash on Volturnus. I'll ping Bill to see if it's done.

It's a quick and dirty scan of an unused original map but you can get a 200dpi version here:

http://starfrontiers.info/pics/SerenaDawnDeck.jpg

It's about 2.2MB to download.

There's also my Serena Dawn 2 maps in the deck plans project- I tried to design them to capture the spirit of the original serena dawn but make them KH compliant. You have to have them enlarge to poster size for use with miniatures but as is I think they will print at close to 1/4inch for the superimposed grid- ideal for the die cut counters.

i tried to save money on my poster size prints of these plans doing them in grayscale but some areas came out real dark- they'll look best in full color.
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

Tom,

Do you have a listings of all the scans?
Maybe post them in a gallery?

Your scans are the best!

I'm working on it.  I eventually plan to scan everything.  Right now I just kind of do it "on demand" as I need it.  (Plus I happened to be home by my scanner this weekend Smile so I could scan the SD map).  The only thing I don't own is an unpunched Alpha Dawn Counter sheet and the Referree's Screen.

Chris,

Can you give us a gaming update?
Were the players new to Star Froniters?
RPG's?
All guys or husbands and wives?

Key Woot,
The players were two guys, Beau and James. We had gotten together and played a Mecha game once before.
http://onemonk.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=wafflem&action=display&thread=1201
Beau is a pretty active wargamer and miniature builder. He has read a few RPG rule books so he was familiar with the idea, but he had never played before. He caught on to making a character pretty fast.
James was totally new to the whole idea. He had played the Mecha game the week before and that was the only game, other than scrabble or monopoly, he had ever played.
He had a ton of questions. I said we just need to play and it will make more sense.

Beau made a Vrusk Tech, James made a Yazarian beam weapon specialist.
I played a Vrusk Psychsocial NPC. to round out the party and help out.

After making characters we had enough time to play the first scenario on Crash on Volturnus. They did a funny thing. They subdued one of the pirates and Jame's character put on his uniform. They played the I've got some prisoners gambit, when they ran across the other pirates. It worked about half the time. I had James do some fast talking and had him make A PER/ LDR roll to see if his ruse would work. So, it kept them out of a few fights.

They both took to roleplaying pretty well. Worked well together on figuring stuff out and impovising. They escaped the Serena and are now on Volturnus.

Beau said he liked the game system. Said it was simple but still had a bit of realism.

At the end of the game night they seemed pretty stoked and wanted to know when we could play again. They both wanted to read some of my books. They took all my rules and a bunch of Frontiersman home.

I had fun too. I didn't have to do much hand holding or using my NPC to keep things going.
It all went great!

Now if I could push my luck and get a scan of the Volturnus Map...Smile

If I'd have seen that yesterday...  I'm back in Cali and won't be home until the 17th.  If you can hold out 'till then I'll scan it for you.

umungus,

I drew a Volturnus map in Excel. I'd be happy to e-mail it to you if you'd like.

Okay, here are the final complete scan of the Serena Dawn map.  Everything has been aligned and adjusted and it looks just like my original copy.  I'm posting the 100dpi version with 50px to the square.  I did the scans at 300dpi and can post higher resolutions if desired but even at this resolution everything is crisp and clean.  I'm posting a PNG version (3.74MB) and a JPG version (492 kB).  The PNG version is crisper since it uses lossless compression but even the JPG version is clean.

I haven't cleaned up the color balance so the "white" border on the map is the faded cream color of the actual map.  Some day I'll even clean that up and fix the fold in the middle.  Enjoy.  I'll work on the interior map of the planet's surface next.

And here is the Volturnus map from the inside.  Same scales and resolutions and same caveats.  The files for this one are slightly larger.
