Hi
I was aware of the Litko company but just discovered some free PDF downloads on their site.

The deal is they do 28mm terrain in computer cut plywood that you paint and assemble.
Their space corridors are just flat tile that you connect like puzzle pieces and then imagine the wall (not what I had previously been looking for).
But since their product is just thin plywood they offer some PDF of printed "textures" that you can print and glue to the ply wood. there are 10 PDFs, each one 1 sheet of texture and the textures run the gamut of diamond plate to warning stripes to rusted mesh plus a sheet of sci-fi doors and another of "entry tiles" intended as 1 inch markers to cut and mark where entry points are in a room. All have a 1 inch grid super imposed on the sheet.

These are essentially the same as the ground and floor sheets that World Works produces for their paper based terrain. The point being is they are free and you could print and paste them to black foam core or poster board to work up a gaming tile for your Face to Face gaming without too much muss or fuss.
I'm actually pondering the possibility of gluing sheets to a black paper backing (black is important in paper modeling as white that shows through a crack in 2 sheets looks like shoddy workmanship but black does not)
then have it laminated at the local Staples or Office max; perfect for dry erase markers and miniatures. Then behold a I'll be the only geek on my block with a sci-fi themed battle mat! Tongue out
While I'm at it i may just have to use the World Works Mars station ground tiles to have a rock red desert texture on the other side. If I'm not careful I may just have to take over the gaming world and be crowned as Emporer of RPG gaming with my "fully operational death star battle mat!!!"Laughing

MAJOR PS:
Chech out their spray paint templates for painting 1", 1.5", 2", 3", and 4" hex grids on to any surface.
I had long debated how to produce a large cloth or felt battle mat for Knight Hawks miniatures to eliminiate the fiddly measuring. and determining of whether a ship is in the FF arc.

I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!
