Instead of MHS points, I used a Hull Point system similar to Alternity's ship design system. I used a couple of Shadow Shack's gizmos(the Deflector Shield(1 HP per point of Hull Size, can take up to (HS+1) hits before going offline, absorbing 75% damage each hit)and the Heavy Laser Cannon(6 HP; 6D10 hull damage*).
