Game networking

Hey all,

I mentioned a few weeks ago in another topic that it's hard to maintain excitement in a game that you never get to play, never mind how much you love it.

To address that issue, I took it upon myself to create a Frappr map for Star Frontiers. If you are not familiar with Frappr, it is sort of a poor man's Google Earth, but with topic- or hobby-specific maps. People put pins on the map according to where they live, and they can communicate with each other within the Frappr site to network with locals who share their interest. Although the site requires you email address, it is only used to alert you when someone on Frappr has left you a message. All person-to-person communication is solely within the Frappr message service, so your identity and email are safe from spammers.

Anyway, this is a tool that some of us might want to use to get together in person for some SF. If you are interested, here is the link:

Its a good idea, our web people should set something up like that here so the community doesnt get split up going to alot of different sites.

Hmm... Not sure what's going on there... The only thing I can think of is if you have any scripts disabled for that site. Is anyone else having problems?

Yeah.  Same thing here.  No background map.

Prolly need to upgrade your Flash player; that's the message I got.

"You're everything that's base in humanity," Cochrane continued. "Drawing up strict, senseless rules for the sole reason of putting you at the top and excluding anyone you say doesn't belong or fit in, for no other reason than just because you say so."

I started getting some blank spots in the map myself. I changed the map settings from a satellite image to a traditional map. It seems to work better now.

The map is Flash-based, so updating your Flash player might be necessary to view it. Good call, Will.
