It's the Star Wars RPG adaptation of the Star Frontiers adaptation of Star Wars: the Movie.

I don't know whether to admire it or what...

Love the blatantly stolen SF graphic on the homepage, though...

It's actually a poor rendition of Dramune Run. From the SF module, Garlus can be likened to an elderly Han Solo while the Malthar is obviously spun from the Hutts. The Gullwind is no Millenium Falcon (which would technically come in at around HS:3), but performs well at ADF:4 and it does have a quasi-smuggling compartment a la the computer maintenance shaft.

But from what I've been told by those that know the SWRPG, the Action IV bulk freighter would be akin to equipping the Gullwind with ADF:1 drives, at which point this copy really misses the mark as the Gullwind is able to outpace all but assault scouts and fighters.

So?
It doesn't have to be a full conversion..
The SF Gullwind doesn't have added hull, actual shields or as many weapons, uprated sensors, nor can she enter the atmosphere either.
You add all that to the hull 6 SF Gullwind and she would be lucky to be doing a speed of 1.

Again, I'm not familiar with the SWRPG nor the A4 bulk freighter.

True, adding some extra goods can decrease the performance significantly...a second laser battery would drop 1 ADF or MR (or cargo) point as would a defensive system, all being cumulative. Although beefing up the sensors and such (energy sensor, WNB) won't affect it according to the canon rules.

Feasibly though, you could add a second weapon and a defensive system (MS or ICM) to the SF Gullwind, thereby reducing the craft to a still respectable ADF/MR of 3 each while sacraficing one cargo point (for a 5 unit hold) and still have a fair ship.

Beefing up the hull is a whole 'nother can of worms, in my house rules it can only be done during construction, although I have been considering an after-the-fact +1 option (e.g. --- HP from HSx5 to HSx6) at the cost of performance.

And atmospheric landings is a discussion with varying opinions that I really won't get into here. Suffice to say, even by my house rules the HS:6 Gullwind won't be doing it either.

I know we've had the starwars and star frontiers discussion before haven't  we  Wink

Just didn't see why you'd have make the SW version identical to the SF version.

We had a Dramune adventure that had Tylapper and such not long ago but our Gullwind was a CEC Consular-class Republic cruiser  (image below)
cec consulor class republic cruiser
and that was as close as we ever came to it and it still doesn't have all the SF versions features (speed AND lots of cargo) but it did capture the same "Gullwind" feel to us and to me that's more important.

Well one could always utilize a captured/converted star destroyer and then speed won't be an issue...anything comes near you, simply blow it away with your 60 turbolaser turrets (or capture it with the tractor beam) LOL
