I thought I would post the stats of some of the creatures I've made up for my game. A little background for you. All these creatures hale from the planet Mahg Mar. Which in my campaign is a dry barren place. There is only one major settlement there. Mahg Mar city. The home of the university. The inner city is a refined nice city. Like you might find any where. But as you branch farther out. The old and more decayed it gets. Anyways the planet pretty much consists of three different terrain types. Sandy dune seas. Hard pack desert with scattered small bushes and clumps of grass. Then finally hilly ravines, and badlands leading to volcanicly active areas. These creatures are from the volcanic areas.

Lava Bear
Type: Medium Carnivores
Number: 1-2
Move: Med. 50m
IM/RS: +6/55
Stamina: 120

Special Defense: Resistant/Immune to Heat
Native World: Mahg Mar

Description:
These are fairly rare carnivores that live in the lava badlands. It primarily hunts Sulfur Fish and Heat Salamanders. They are large about the size and shape of a black bear. But instead of being covered with fur. It is covered with heavy scales. Scales of a dark red color. These scales seem to give the creature its heat resistance. A handy feature in the enviroment it lives in. As it has been seen clawing Sulfur fish out of the boiling streams they live in. The next unusual feature are there claws and teeth. They are formed of a natural iron alloy. They are extremely hard and durable. Lava bears are very aggressive in protecting its territory. Having no natural predators. It is almost fearless.

Heat Salamander

Special Attack: Lock jaw, after a successful attack. The salamanders jaws lock remaining stuck on target doing 1D5 per round till killed or pryed off.
Special Defense: -
Native World: Mahg Mar

Description:
These are large reddish, brown lizard like salamanders. They live in the lava badlands of Mahg Mar. They subsist on any thing they can get. Be it algae blooms in the streams, carrion, or by hunting. They tend to hunt in packs. One by itself is not much of a threat. But a large group of them can be damgerous.

Feel free to start a project on it. Great work!

A whole slew of creatures will be coming at you in next month's issue. They didn't make it into this month's issue becasue of all the artwork required.

Lava creatures is a great theme!

Maybe once I get enough stuff created I'll do that. Right now I'm just creating as needed for my game. Then again it would be a neat project. I'll have to think about it.

Hey Ronin - how about starting a project on a new Creatures of the Frontier book?  You could do it by star system... or you could do it by environment or terrain types... or just one big alphabetized list - but it would be really cool especially if we could illustrate them!  It would make a great PDF.  Plus it's very old-school like a Monster Manual from the 80s :)

You could also just head over to The House Rules Wiki and set up your game rules if that were all you are interested in.

It sounds like I may have to create a project of some sort. But it may be a little while as real life is becoming a vacuming sucker of time. Hope fully in the next couple weeks I'll get something going.

I have wanted to use the inferno setting for quite some time now.

Keep it up.  Getting a working, meaningful and realistic ecosystem is key.

I'm very interested in hearing more about Mahg Mar. You should do an article in the Star Frontiersman. I would love to see what you have fleshed out. Maybe even do a Mahg Mar campaign project if you have enough developed. I love the name, and with a focus on lava, it would be awesome.

The link is too Fistful of Credits. I set up the project for Members only (anyone can join) because it's a Star Frontiers module for GM's. If you were to see some of the content it would ruin the game if you decided to play it.
Make sense? Here is the disclaimer on the front page.
Here is a scan and html version of the module (It has not been remastered yet.)

In other words request membership if you are a GM in search of a module, then you'll be able to view the document. If you're a player, you'll only ruin your game.
