Editing racial abilities

I added code so that we can edit the improvable racial abilities for the four core races.  Eventually the existing character generator will get an overhaul so we can make it less hard-coded and more modular... but in adhering to strict Alpha Dawn rules, it's a pretty solid program right now.  All that's left is doing equipment.

My plans:
  • Work with w00t to start the more modular robust character generator that will replace this hardcoded one.
  • Finish hardcoding equipment selection - since I think that's the last step to making this current character generator optimal... then move this hard-coded character generator elsewhere out of this project.  What I might do, in fact, is move it to the Digitally Remastered project and try to make the output populate fields on my Digitally Remastered hexagonal character sheet.

Racial Abilities looks good.

Weapons and such might better belong in the Ultimate Equipment Guide?
I started a table of the current weapons but would rather hold off, use CCK then create a View much like the layout of the Alpha Dawn Quick Reference Guide (with the ability to sort by Damage, Rate, etc...)

It would also be nice to have the View printable in a nice format.

yeah - to be honest, for this simpler character generator - I was just going to hardcode all the selections and specifically narrow the scope down to just using gear from the Alpha Dawn book.  But you're right - when it comes to the full-featured character generator for this project, we need equipment to be a cck.

Any chance for expanding the races to include the Zeb's species---or would that mandate converting everything over to Zeb skills etc?
I'm not overly fond of Zeb's Guide...nor do I have any qualms stating why. Tongue out

That is down the road once we get the current systems up to speed.

This current character generator is a hard-coded simplistic solution that is designed to accommodate purely core alpha-dawn boxed set characters and nothing more.  I think the only thing left to do with it is equipment from the core book.  This character generator is NOT what w00t had in mind for this project.  That will be a more robust solution that will eventually include Knight hawks, Zeb's, and many optional rules drawn from this site and from the pages of Dragon, Ares, StarFrontiersman, and this and other websites.

I plan on doing the equipment from the core alpha dawn boxed set, then calling this character generator "done" and moving it out of this project (perhaps into the Digitally Remastered project) - giving the masses something to use for online games and stuff.... at which point w00t and I will have to work hard to get the more robust solution started.
